Welcome to spring, sort of. If you are here
on the east coast, you are most likely experiencing the same
snow storm as we are. If you are located in the warmer parts
of the country, rest assured, we're over wearing turtle necks,
dragging out the boots and finding the other glove, even if
it is pretty and fun.
NEW RULES PROPOSED BY THE FDA
The Food and Drug Administration has proposed new regulations
that require supplement makers, like ourselves, to abide by
good manufacturing principals. The ruling is designed to make
sure that consumers are getting what they pay for. These new
requirements include accurate labeling, validating identity,
purity, strength and composition. We applaud these new regulations
and agree that the few bad apples in our industry need to
be driven out. At Oona, we already take the measures the FDA
is proposing and look forward to greater consumer confidence
in our industry as a whole. For more information go to:

SPRING CLEANING FOR THE BODY
While you're thinking of cleaning out the closets, why not
consider giving your body a cleanse? Your writer does this
herself every year, and I can't tell you what a difference
it makes in restoring a positive attitude and vital energy.
It also takes about five years off my face. It does require
work and planning but worth every bit of it. Further, it's
something that is just for you. My only advice is to make
sure you do it at a time where nothing big is happening in
your life - personally I make no plans to go out and use the
time as quiet time. The fast I do is quite strict, it's called
"The Master Cleanser" by Stanley Buroughs available
at Amazon. This is not for everybody, but there are plenty
to choose from. Other recommended books are "The Detox
Book" by Bruce Fife or for an example of what a program
might look like go to http://www.naturalhealth-1.com/ and
click on "Lose the Bloat"
MENOPAUSAL BONE LOSS MAY BE CONNECTED TO HIGH BLOOD
PRESSURE
An interesting study was published last month in JAMA. It
theorizes that when a perimenopausal or menopausal woman loses
bone mass, there is an increase in the amount of skeletal
lead in our bodies. Lead exposures have been linked to hypertension
and high blood pressure in older men. It is now suggested
the same is most pronounced in post-menopausal women. For

QUOTE OF THE MONTH
Your product has been a life-saver in restoring the balance
to my life. I can sleep peacefully again after a seven month
disturbance. I appreciated reading other people's testimonials
to how the product worked in solving a very difficult time
in their life. When you don't have facts, and suffer from
menopausal symptoms you also suffer from the stress of the
unknown. Progesterone didn't work for me, nor did the chinese
herbs an accupuncturist prescribed for me. I was tired of
waking up in the middle of the night from the night sweats,
and the hot flashes in the day time got progressively more
frequent. I knew I was out of balance, but had no answers.
One lady wrote on your website that after a couple weeks,
she was back in control. I wasn't after two weeks at the higher
dose, but I was better, and then after three weeks, I was
in balance. It just took me a little longer. I had to continue
at the higher dose for another month before I could lower
it to the maintenance dose, but I realized we're all unique,
and I had to listen to my body. I was so relieved to finally
find the answer. My doctor told me to take chasteberry with
the black cohosh, and I was pleased to see your product contains
both---a smart and safe blend. Thank you very much for helping
women maintain a balance in life. I appreciate your website
very much, and have advised friends to check it out.
